In the past few years, I have mostly done advertising design for print publications, but have also done some magazine layouts and other production materials.
Previously, I have done design work for the Royal City Farmers Market, EVENT Magazine, as well as various other print and online content. Some samples are below.

Online Content: Reinventing EVENT
Event is a literary magazine run out of Douglas College. For a school project, I worked with a team to redesign the magazines web page. It was a big project with a real client, and although we had some ups and downs it taught me not only what working with a real client can be like, but also gave me skills in both Dreamweaver and WordPress.
For this project, I was primarily the designer. This involved selecting a colour palette, designing a template in Dreamweaver (which did not end up getting used due to compatibility issues), and laying out content on the final WordPress page.

The Market: Pictures and Words
I wrote and designed a tile ad for the Royal City Farmers Market (RCFM), during my summer internship. It was my first design that was actually going to be out there, in the real world. I had some problems writing the copy, originally I was being too wordy. I enjoyed that the project was both fun and challenging.
The second sample was a volunteer brochure. The copy here also had to be short, easy to read and fun. We didn’t want to bore people, we needed them to realize how fun volunteering at the market is. The images chosen were intended to have the same effect — bright, tasty and exciting.
Although there was basic template already laid out for the brochure, all the copy and image selection was my work.
